Tatedo Featured on Taiwanese TV — A Traditional Sword Art Crossing Borders

A Taiwanese TV crew recently visited our dojo to film a feature on Tatedo

A Taiwanese TV crew recently visited the Japan Tatedo Association dojo to film a special feature on “Tatedo,” the traditional Japanese art of choreographed sword fighting.

They asked many insightful questions about the history and philosophy of Tatedo, observed live demonstrations, and even experienced the art themselves.
We’re excited (and a bit nervous!) to see how the final show turns out.

What is “Tatedo” and Why is the World Taking Notice?

Tatedo is often recognized as the art behind sword fighting scenes in movies and on stage.
But it’s much more than that.

It includes form, spirit, breath, and expression—a “spiritual art form” that goes beyond mere technique.

In this feature, not only were interviews conducted,
but also real performance footage and trial experiences were filmed.
We’re truly honored to see this traditional art reaching beyond Japan.

We hope more and more people from around the world
can experience the quiet power and beauty of “Tatedo.”
As we continue our practice,
we carry the spirit of our predecessors—and our passion—to the future.
